In 2 Peter 1, Peter encourages us to add knowledge to our faith. Biblical knowledge grows from knowing God. When Jesus is at the centre, our relationship with Him shapes the way we understand the world, people, work, our future and the way we live.
Pastor Jeff took us to the story of Daniel, a man who kept learning and growing in wisdom while living in Babylon, but whose knowledge remained grounded in worship. When the culture around him demanded something contrary to what he knew of God, Daniel continued faithfully in the same direction. He knew who God was, and that gave him the courage to live accordingly.
We can grow in the same way. Know Jesus. Keep learning. Be willing to unlearn ideas that don’t align with His truth. Read His Word, spend time in His presence and learn to interpret the world through what you know of Him. As we grow in our knowledge of God, He gives us wisdom and discernment to live faithfully in the world around us.
