Sometimes we can sit in the same place for so long that it begins to feel normal, even when we know something needs to change.

This week, Carolyn Miller took us into John 5, where Jesus encounters a man who had been unable to walk for 38 years, lying by the pool of Bethesda among many others waiting for healing. In the middle of a crowded and desperate place, Jesus chose to stop and speak directly to him with a surprising question: “Do you want to get well?”

The man responded with excuses and limitations, shaped by years of disappointment and hopelessness. Yet Jesus did not require anything from him. With a simple command, He brought immediate healing and restoration. It was not earned, deserved, or even fully understood. It was a gift of grace.

We were reminded that Jesus is not only concerned with physical healing, but with our whole lives. He invites us into a new way of living, one marked by freedom, wholeness, and alignment with Him. The question He asked that man is the same question He asks us today. Do you want to be made well?

This message encouraged us to reflect honestly on the areas of our lives where we may feel stuck, to lay aside excuses, and to trust Jesus with what only He can restore. Because in Him, we find not only healing, but life.
