This week, Pastor Jeff continued our journey through the Gospel of John, taking us into John 8:12, where Jesus makes one of His boldest declarations: “I am the light of the world.” Not a small light or a temporary glow, but the very light of God breaking into human darkness. The same God who said “Let there be light” now stands in the temple declaring that anyone who follows Him no longer has to walk in darkness.
We were reminded that following Jesus is not simply believing ideas about Him. It is becoming His apprentice, learning His way of life, and allowing His light to shape how we think, decide, and live. His light brings guidance when we do not know what to do next. His presence brings deep joy that circumstances cannot steal. And His life within us becomes something that shines outward into the lives of others.
Pastor Jeff encouraged us to remember that we do not carry this light for ourselves alone. Jesus calls His followers the light of the world too. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we are invited to bring hope, truth, encouragement, and the presence of God into everyday conversations, relationships, and ordinary moments.
The world may still feel shadowy at times, but Jesus is clear light in the middle of the fog. And if we follow Him, we do not have to walk in darkness.
